Florida PBA Endorses Attorney General Pam Bondi for Re-Election Bid
Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida’s Police Benevolent Association (PBA), known as ‘The Voice of Florida’s Law Enforcement,’ today announced their endorsement of Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in her re-election bid as the state’s chief legal officer.
“I am thrilled to have the endorsement of the Florida PBA,” said Bondi. “My team within the Office of Attorney General works hand in hand with Florida’s finest in protecting and serving Florida’s residents and tourists alike. Police officers, sheriff’s deputies, correctional officers, their families and support staff are all part of what makes the Sunshine State a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I am honored to work with such dedicated professionals and look forward to another four years of continued collaboration,” stated Bondi, Florida’s 37th Attorney General.
Since taking office, Attorney General Bondi has worked tirelessly shutting down pill mills as part of the fight against prescription drug abuse, making Florida a zero tolerance state for human trafficking, aggressively investigating Medicaid fraud, securing an unprecedented level of relief for Florida homeowners through the National Mortgage Settlement, and defending Florida’s constitutional rights against the federal health care law and federal government overreach.
“On behalf of the PBA’s more than 24,000 law enforcement officers in Florida, we are committed to Attorney General Pam Bondi’s re-election efforts,” said Florida PBA Executive Director Matt Puckett. “General Bondi has been a diligent advocate on behalf of our members and initiatives, and we are proud to offer our strongest endorsement.”
When Bondi took office in January 2011, Florida was home to 98 of the top 100 physicians dispensing Oxycodone nationwide. Today, none of the top 100 reside in Florida. This success has led to a decline in deaths caused by prescription drug abuse three years in a row. Another battle won in the war against prescription drug abuse has been development of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, which helps doctors know when patients are doctor shopping to gain access to prescription drugs. The Attorney General championed the program from its inception and recently stepped in to provide $2 million in funding through settlement funds to ensure it continues protecting Floridians.
